Campfire Foil Packets
"For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving." — 1 Timothy 4:4
The easiest campfire dinner! Everyone gets to build their own packet, tossing it right into the embers. Virtually no cleanup required.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef or sliced smoked sausage
- 4 medium potatoes, chopped
- 2 large carrots, peeled and sliced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 4 tbsp butter (1 tbsp per packet)
- Salt, pepper, and garlic powder to taste
- Heavy-duty aluminum foil
Instructions
- Prep the foil: Tear off 4 large squares of heavy-duty foil (about 12x12 inches).
- Assemble: In the center of each square, place a handful of meat, potatoes, carrots, and onions.
- Season: Add a tablespoon of butter to the top of each pile. Season generously with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Wrap: Fold the sides of the foil over the food, rolling the edges tightly to seal in the steam.
- Cook: Place the packets directly on hot coals (not into roaring flames). Cook for 30-40 minutes, turning once halfway through. Open carefully—the steam will be hot!
