Fire-Roasted Hot Dogs

    Fire-Roasted Hot Dogs

"Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!" — Psalm 133:1

The quintessential camping meal. There is something profoundly simple and joyful about roasting your own dinner over an open flame with friends and family.

    Ingredients

    • 1 package of high-quality hot dogs or smokies
    • 1 package of hot dog buns
    • Ketchup, mustard, and relish
    • Roasting sticks (clean branches or metal skewers)

    Instructions

    1. Find the perfect coal bed: Wait for the fire to burn down slightly. Roasting over glowing embers provides an even cook, while roaring flames will burn the outside before the inside is hot.
    2. Skewer securely: Thread the hot dog lengthwise onto the stick, making sure it won't easily fall off into the ashes.
    3. Roast slowly: Hold the hot dog over the coals, rotating it continuously. You're looking for a blistering, bubbling skin.
    4. Assemble: Place the hot dog into a bun, add your favorite toppings, and enjoy the smoky flavor!
