    Breakfast
"A breakfast that fills the belly and warms the soul."

Flaky, buttery biscuits smothered in creamy sausage gravy—a Depression-era staple that remains a beloved comfort food for good reason.

    Ingredients

    • 2 cups flour
    • 3 tsp baking powder
    • 1 tsp salt
    • 6 tbsp cold butter, cubed
    • 3/4 cup buttermilk
    • 1 lb sausage
    • 3 tbsp flour
    • 2 cups milk
    • Salt and pepper to taste

    Instructions

    1. Make Biscuits: Mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly. Add buttermilk until dough comes together.
    2. Bake: Drop spoonfuls onto a baking sheet. Bake at 425°F for 12-15 minutes until golden.
    3. Cook Sausage: Brown sausage in a skillet, breaking it apart as it cooks.
    4. Make Gravy: Sprinkle flour over sausage, stir, then add milk. Simmer until thickened, about 5 minutes.
    5. Serve: Split warm biscuits and smother with gravy.
